I am Fred Zeglin, my first book, "Wildcat Cartridges,
the Reloader's Handbook of Wildcat Cartridge Design" is published and in
print. For more information on that book click
here.
Part of that project involved the history of wildcatting so
I collected some data on a few of the gunsmiths that drove the development of
wildcat cartridges. The next logical step is to put together a book on the
gunsmiths themselves, selected P.O. Ackley as the focus of this book. I started looking around and there are scattered
articles and tidbits, but no definitive work on Mr. Ackley.
The purpose of this page is to give the public an
opportunity to participate in the assembly of credible information P.O. Ackley.
He started smithing in 1936 and passed away in 1989. Information about his
life and work, examples of his work, and personal experiences of those who knew
him are all welcome.
Email me if you have something that will help.
Ultimately
the inclusion of any information or personal data in the book will depend on the
quality and quantity of the data.
