Color
Case, Metal FinishZ-Hat offers color case hardening on some custom rifles and various parts.
Color case is an actual hardening process and can change the fit of parts, so there are some actions that cannot be color cased. Ruger #1 actions can be color cased, or any action that was originally color cased that you would like to restore. Most small parts and steel accessories can be colored. Below are a few examples of finished parts.
Notice
the Nitre Blue screws, this is a nice detail that really sets off the
color in the butt plate. Our set-up for Nitre blue limits us to
small parts. |
Color
case hardening is a nice touch on a custom rifle. Especially
on an Classic Hunting rifle.
The color will fade in the sunlight so this is not the best finish for a rifle that will be used a lot in the field. It is much better for rifles that only go the the range, or out hunting once a year. The color will last for a lifetime if not left in the sun for long periods. |
When
small parts are color case hardened, it adds a detail that makes your
custom rifle a treasure. Why just have a rifle when you can have a
work of art too.
The cost of color case hardening is governed by how many parts are to be hardened. Finish is very important, the better the polish on the steel the better the colors will look. |
